My STI Is...
My STI is called Cytomegalovirus. (CMV) The type of infection it is a virus. Sadly if you have it, it can't be cured. :( 4 out of every 10 america get it when they reach puberty. If CMV doesn't get treated, CMV could cause Blindness and mental disorders.
How is it spread?
Transmitted through body fluid. CMV can be in saliva, semen, blood, cervical, and vaginal secretions, urine, and breast milk.
Vaginal and anal intercourse
Oral sex
Close personal contact
Blood transfusion and sharing 4 drug equipment
Pregnancy, childbirth, and Breastfeeding
About 1 out of every 100 babies are born with CMV. If you have CMV and the baby passes CMV from pregnancy and childbirth then don’t breast feed him/her instead bottle feed. If the baby was born with CMV some problems could be hearing loss and vision loss. Development and learning disabilities, and liver problems. In rare cases the problems are fatal. iF you are pregnant or thinking and you have CMV talk to health care.
