LGV is uncommon in North America, but its still here. Its common in South America, Southeast Asia, Caribbean, and India. LGV is bacterial. You only can get it if you have had sexual intercourse with someone that has it. Not by getting bit by a bug/animal or a viral, getting coughed on by someone who has it.

How is it Spread?:
Its spread by have sexual intercourse vaginal, anal, or oral. Mostly men that have intercourse with other men, get it. Females only get it if they have sexual contact with a male that has it.

Symptoms:
- Swelling in the throat, vagina/penis, or anal area (depends on what kind of intercourse you had).
- Redness in that area, too.
- Slight pain
- Rectum might have pus coming out
- Severe pain when having bowel movements

Can it Be Treated?:
Yes, it can be treated. You can get antibiotics from your doctor and some of them are etracycline, doxycycline, erythromycin, and azithromycin.

Can it Be Cured?:
Yes and no, depends on the treatment and if you have to keep repeating it, but you can have sexual intercourse again, about 2 weeks after treatment but recommended to use protection in case if its not fully healed. I didn't find a confirming source.
