Pubic lice is an STI. An STI is a sexually transmitted disease. The most common time that people will be infected by STI will be when they have sexual intercourse. Really anyone can get pubic lice. Pubic lice does affect your body because a lot of symptoms will occur. Yes, there is a cure and treatment. If you do not want to be infected with an STI then I would suggest using protection or practice abstinence.

What Infection Is It?
Pubic lice are insects that crawl from one persons pubic hair to another persons pubic hair.

How Is Pubic Lice Spread?
Pubic lice is spread very easily during sexual intercourse. It is also spread when you have close physical contact. It can be spread a lot through infected bedding, clothing, upholstered furniture, towels, and toilet seats.
Can Pubic Lice Be Cured?
Yes, pubic lice can be cured. Lice will never go away on its own, you have to treat it. You also never want pubic lice to spread. Some way to prevent pubic lice would be to wash all of your clothing and wash your bedding.
Can Pubic Lice Be Treated?
Yes, pubic lice can be treated. There is a lotion for the pubic area and a mousse for your head. You can get those products over-the-counter meaning that you do not need a prescription at a drug store or pharmacy. The common treatments with a prescription containing permethrin such as Elimite or Kwell.
Steps to Treat Pubic Lice:
1) Wash infested area; towel dry
2) Carefully follow instructions on package/label
3) Following treatment, most nite will still be attached to your shafts. You can remove the nits by using fingernails or using
4) Put on clean underwear and clothing after treatment
5) To kill lice/nits that may be on your clothing, put your clothes in the washer and dryer with warm water
6) Clothing that cannot be placed in the washer and dryer should be put in a sealed bag for two weeks
7) All sex partners should from previous month should be informed that they are at risk and it should be treated
8) Persons should avoid sexual contact until himself and sex partner(s) have been fully treated
9) Repeat treatment in 9-10 if live live are being found

Age Group
You can get pubic lice at any given age. One of the most popular times that you could be infected with pubic lice would be as a young adult (12-18) because of puberty. The other most common time that you will most likely be infected with pubic lice would be when you have sexual intercourse.
